It is sung each year at the San Francisco Spiral Dance ritual immediately after the "cone of power" (the climax of the spiral dance that is the centerpiece of the ritual). This recording is from Moonrise's CD, Songs Of Love, Magic And Other Mysteries.
Moonrise is Deborah "DJ" Hamouris, Robin Dolan and Denise Castleton. Robin and DJ each conducted SF Reclaiming's Spiral Dance chorus for several years, and Denise played guitar. This song is a sweet memory for all of us. In 2003, Moonrise created this CD, which Reclaiming Quarterly called "a blending of the traditional and the unexpected...an album that you'll want to play right now. Over and over." (Read the whole review here.) Other Moonrise recordings include Welcome to Annwfn (DJ & brother Rick Hamouris); The Chorus of Life, with Gaia's Voice, (directed by DJ); Reclaiming's Let it Begin Now (featuring both Robin & DJ) and Second Chants (featuring Robin). Robin has also sung backup on several of Thorn Coyle's CDs. To get a copy of Moonrise's CD, Songs Of Love, Magic And Other Mysteries, visit iTunes or CDBaby.
