Witches' BrewSongs and Chants from the Reclaiming CauldronDear friends, We're writing with good news - RQ is in the finishing stages of producing a new Reclaiming music CD! We want you to be among the first to learn about the new recording, and to invite you to help bring this exciting and inspiring project to fruition. Reclaiming's last CD - check that, Reclaiming's last cassette tape - was released in 1997. A lot of great Reclaiming music has been recorded since then. The three older recordings (still available on CD via RQ's website) continue to sell steadily. But for those of us who bought those recordings long ago, who have committed the songs to memory and sung them in the shower for the past decade - it's about time for a new CD! Witches' Brew: Songs and Chants from the Reclaiming CauldronThe new CD was launched one afternoon at an RQ proofreading session. We were talking about all of the great CDs recorded by Reclaiming teachers and other musicians over the past decade. The RQ music shelf held a dozen such CDs, and we suspected there were more. We started daydreaming - what if we could choose our favorite song from each CD and assemble a compilation - a Witches' Brew of new Reclaiming chants and songs? We put out a call to teachers and musicians in our community. We asked them to contribute songs, and to recommend other musicians whose songs and chants might be part of the compilation. The outpouring was incredible and inspiring. As we've assembled material for this new CD, we've had a chance to listen to a lot of amazing music! In the end, we honed it to 15 songs. The selections range from traditional Reclaiming chants, to meditational instrumentals, to classic three-minute pop songs. Some of these artists you'll know from past recordings. Witches' Brew - Coming Soon?!?So when will this amazing new CD be available? As soon as we have the money to reproduce it. We are asking you to join us in bringing this project to fruition by advance-ordering the new CD for $25. As with all Reclaiming projects, "Witches' Brew" is being produced on a shoestring. All of the songs on the CD are being donated, as are labor and expertise going into production. We are donating our creative efforts because we believe that this CD will be a musical treasure. We began this project, trusting that the financial support would be forthcoming. We are working now to produce the master recording and design the lyric booklet. But we need to raise about $2000 to produce and distribute the first order of the new CD. Cassette and CD sales have been a major support for Reclaiming's work for a dozen years. Funds raised from music sales support all of our work. In the long run, this new recording will raise funds for Reclaiming's many projects, from public rituals and classes to frontline activism to a website and magazine. But in the short run, we have to pay $2000 to reproduce "Witches' Brew." Your contribution now will be multiplied many times as the CDs are sold over the coming years, benefiting all of Reclaiming in our work to bring together Earth-based spirituality and political commitment.
