The Spiral Dance - An RQ Contest

See below for complete contest rules.

    1. What was the year of the first Spiral Dance ritual? 1979

    2. What is the name of the San Francisco building where most Spiral Dances were held during the 1980s? The Women's Building

    3. Apart from its size and the time it takes, what is the unique feature of the actual spiral dance at the Samhain Spiral Dance ritual, as contrasted with spiral dances at smaller rituals? It is a double-spiral, with two separate lines intertwining

    4. The Reclaiming Spiral Dance CD is named after one of the songs sung in the ritual. What is the title of the Spiral Dance CD? Let It Begin

    5. To reach the island of the ancestors, participants sail in a boat over the ________________ Sea. (fill in the blank - the reference is contained in a song from the ritual) The Sunless Sea, from the song "Set Sail"

    6. BONUS QUESTION -- If you had never heard the word "Samhain" pronounced, but knew that it was Celtic, how would you know that the letter "m" is not pronounced? According to our best information, the presence of the letter "h" indicates that the preceding consonant is not pronounced. Hence, Samhain = "sow-in," and Bodhrain = "ba-ran." -- If anyone else can shed more light on this, please email us at quarterly@reclaiming.org
