Teen Earth Magic - July 2008

A youth retreat in Northern California

Photos by Luke Hauser

In mid-July 2008, Teen Earth Magic gathered in the woods of Northern California for four days of deepening our relations with the Earth and with one another.

The retreat was held at Camp Epic in wooded rolling hills near Nevada City (Sierra foothills).

2008's first Teen Earth Magic retreat packed in a week's worth of workshops and other activities, ranging from nightly rituals to personal transformation work to a swim in the Yuba River to discussions about political commitment.

We did tarot, habitat restoration, spellwork, composting, labyrinth rituals, singing and music, campfires....

The retreat was organized by teachers from Witchlets in the Woods family camp, with the support of parents and site-owners.

2008 teachers were Riyana, George, and Allison.

Bringing Reclaiming Youth Together

At last year's Teen Earth Magic, half of the teens had previously attended Witchlets, and the other half were new to Reclaiming camps.

One person traveled from Texas, and a Dutch teen who has been part of the Loreley (Western Europe) Witchcamp teens path also attended.

We hope to draw teens from around Reclaiming, and that other Witchcamp and local communities will support sending interested teens out to the retreat.

To encourage involvement, we will reduce or waive workshop cost for anyone with a significant cost of travel.

As teen and youth involvement takes strong root in many of our communities, it is a wonderful thought that these amazing young people would get to do magic together.

Help make this dream real! Your support of Teen Earth Magic can make a huge difference in bring our youth together.
